The RCMP Drugs and Organized Crime Awareness Service (DOCAS) is dedicated to contributing to the health and safety of every community in British Columbia through drug prevention for youth. We firmly believe drug and substance abuse prevention is essential to crime prevention.

A strong integrated approach to the global drug problem involves prevention, education, enforcement, counseling, treatment, and rehabilitation. Together these would achieve long term success.  The DOCAS goal is to prevent drug-related social and economic harm by reducing the demand for illicit drugs, with the understanding that the drug problem is one of global proportions.

DOCAS is coordinated by specially trained Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) personnel at the Federal, Provincial, Territorial and Municipal levels.  DOCAS works in partnership with local RCMP detachments, all levels of government, non-governmental agencies, other police agencies, private organizations and other community groups to provide pro-active drug preventions initiatives in communities. 

In British Columbia, DOCAS is committed to:

• Working with police and their communities to develop a comprehensive Community Prevention Education Continuum (CPEC) for youth; and
• Assisting and supporting police and communities to develop the capacity to strategically, collaboratively, and pro-actively address the drug issues through initiatives that will ultimately support parents and families of youth.
